DELA on playing Long Beach's Junction on December 15th & more

Thanks to Raised Fist Propaganda — which recently brought Bad Brains frontman HR to Long Beach and has an upcoming LAW show featuring the aforementioned Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob — DELA will be playing a rare Long Island gig at Long Beach’s Junction on December 15th. To learn more about that gig, I did Q&A with DELA himself, who can be followed on both Instagram and Twitter via the @DELASaxMusic handle.

Advance tickets for the Junction show can be purchased via Raised Fist’s Eventbrite page.

You have an upcoming show at the Junction in Long Beach. Have you ever been to Long Beach, New York before?

DELA: Although I lived in New York City for many years, I hadn’t ever been to Long Beach until a recent recording session I did with The Zebulonites there.

Long Beach is generally regarded as a "beach town." What do you think it is that makes your music so beach-friendly?

DELA: I think that live music is great for any beach town, but in particular because my music is so heavily rooted in reggae, it lends itself even more to the beach vibe.

For someone who hasn't seen your band live before, what should be expect from your set?

DELA: Expect hard-hitting, danceable reggae rhythms and an all-star musical cast from some of your favorite bands in the american reggae scene!

Upcoming tour dates aside, what is coming up for you and your band?

DELA: This is just the beginning. Lots more shows all over the northeast to come!

Do you have a favorite album of 2018?

DELA: I’ve been really into Mac Miller’s album Swimming. He’s great and we miss him a lot.

Finally, any last words for the kids?

DELA: Stay tuned to @delasaxmusic for all the upcoming shows in a town near you, and get your copy of DELA and the Aggrolites’ Opening Night anywhere you get your music!
