Chris Jericho answers 3 questions about his Long Island roots

Chris Jericho answers 3 questions about his Long Island roots

As a professional wrestler, an author, a musician and a podcaster, 2017 has been a big year for Chris Jericho. Beyond being seen by millions of people around the world on a weekly basis on WWE programming for a lot of the year, Jericho released his fourth book No Is A Four Letter Word and his seventh full-length album with the band Fozzy, Judas. The multi-hyphenate also recently announced Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea -- a cruise combining the worlds of rock, comedy and wrestling -- and a crossover into New Japan Pro Wrestling for a major one-off match, both happening in 2018.

While talking to Jericho by phone about No Is A Four Letter Word, I was able to slip in a few questions related to No Place Like Long Island. While generally associated with Winnipeg, Canada -- and known that he lives with his family in Tampa, Florida -- Jericho does in fact have Long Island roots. More on Chris Jericho can be found online at www.chrisjericho.com.

You were born on Long Island, correct?

Chris Jericho: Yeah, in Manhasset.

But everyone thinks of you as being from Canada. Did you actually spend any of your life on Long Island?

Chris Jericho: Well, my dad was playing for the [New York] Rangers at the time when I was born there, in November, so we always stayed... When did he get traded to the Rangers? I think it is ’74 he got traded, but always during the off-season we would go back to Winnipeg, which was where he was from. So I kind of spend winters in Long Island and summer in Winnipeg.

As an adult did you ever come to Long Island on vacation? I know that you worked at the Nassau Coliseum a lot of times, of course.

Chris Jericho: We were just there in Patchogue maybe three months ago. But other than that, only for work and never on vacation.
