Geraldo Rivera talks all things L.I. to No Place Like Long Island
Geraldo Rivera is one of the most recognizable people that Long Island has ever produced, yet not everyone realizes that he is from here. A native of West Babylon, Geraldo received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School long before he became one of television's top reporters. Beyond recent appearances on The Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing With The Stars, Geraldo is a frequent contributor to Fox News.

Is there anything you miss about living on Long Island?
GR: If you love the ocean like I do, there is no place like Long Island. During the summer season it is absolutely stunning, and Long Island is also one of the greatest melting pots anywhere in the world.
How often do you usually get back to the Island? Do you still have family there?
GR: I visit Long Island regularly as my late brother Willie’s family is still in our hometown of West Babylon in Suffolk County. Our extended family is very close.
What was your first concert on Long Island?
GR: I think it was Simon & Garfunkel at Forest Hills Stadium sometime in the late 1960s.
Do you have a favorite restaurant on the Island?
GR: I have many local favorites but none in particular. It used to be Al’s Midwell Diner, my dad’s 24 hour burger and egg joint on Broadway in Massapequa. I worked there during my years at Brooklyn Law School as the overnight short-order cook.
Finally, what do you wish more people knew about Long Island?
GR: The North Shore of Long Island is one of the most impressive real estate locations in the world. There are excellent properties right on the cliff with breathtaking views over the Sound, which can be bought for a steal compared to similar properties in for example the Hamptons.
