Billy Joel to help re-open the Nassau Coliseum on Apr. 5, 2017

Legendary Long Island-based musician Billy Joel will perform the first show at the new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2017. Interestingly, Billy Joel had been the performer on Aug. 4, 2015 at the arena's final show before renovations began. This April 2017 outing will be Billy Joel's 33rd show at the Nassau Coliseum, nine of which sell-outs in 1998.

Tickets for the show will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 14 at 10:00 AM via Ticketmaster. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 10:00 AM through 10:30 AM. Also on Oct. 14, the Coliseum will be launching its Long Island All Access Pass, an annual season-ticket membership that provides its members with a premium experience that includes parking, access to the VIP entrance and club level, and tickets in the lower bowl to every event. More information is available at nassaucoliseum.com.

The programming schedule for the arena -- which opened in 1972 -- will include concerts, sports, family shows, and the Brooklyn Nets’ D-League team, the Long Island Nets. The venue will have a capacity of 13,000 for hockey, 13,500 for basketball, and 14,500 for standard concert configurations, with the ability to increase for select events. The bowl will also have a theater seating option for 4,000 guests. The Coliseum will offer authentic Long Island food and beverages through its Long Island Taste program, showcasing local restaurants and vendors.
